Is it possible for worship to change the face of the earth? How can we
write songs that inspire hearts towards God? Are we able to encounter
worship on a level that will address justice issues? Is it possible to
start a band or record music that will draw the nations to Jesus?
With so many questions about why we do the things we do on a corporate level, these honest questions hang in our midst, begging to be answered.
The School of Worship calls the musician, songwriter, and worship leader on a journey towards the heart of God as we explore questions that many have about worship.
One of the foundational values of YWAM is to do first then teach, and we take that value to heart as we invite teachers to speak in this school. We will explore the biblical foundation for musical worship by taking a closer look into where it originated and why it began to be a part of the modern day church.
Building upon the foundation of songwriting set for us by many generations before, the school will encourage participants to deepen and broaden their own songwriting and musicianship.
Teamwork is a key ingredient in working together as a band, so every day there is opportunity to work within a band context as you collaborate to develop songs and set lists.
As we lay the foundations of band development, musicianship, songwriting, and worship leading, class times will also encompass spiritual warfare in worship, cultural expressions of worship, personal lifestyle, and worship evangelism.
Throughout the school each student will be writing songs that have the potential to be on the School of Worship CD.
For the tour phase of the School of Worship, we will have plenty of opportunities for students to be involved in some of our base ministries and outreaches after the lecture phase. |
