Falo has a real name, but I feel like his nickname fits him, because thats basically what he does follows us around. Sebastian met him around the base and they quickly bonded. He has been at the base non-stop since then. Every one loves him. He helps out where he can, goes on outreach with us, plays with us, eats with us. Falo has had a rough family life growing up. He lived with a grandmother most of his life, she died last year. He now lives with his other grandmother. He hangs out on the streets most days, just kind of growing up rough. I don´t know all of the details of his family life, but what I do understand is that is home life is really unstable. We get to shower love on him everyday. Sebastian gets to pour into him by teaching him things. Those of us who don´t speak spanish get to pour into him by doing all the things that I´ve mentioned before. Just the other day Falo looked really sad, Angela went to him and hugged him. He just cried quietly as she hugged him. Its not the type of ministry we have planned, but knowing that our actions and love is planting seeds in him on how to live right, to help others, and that God loves him is the best kind of outreach we can be doing. |

During ministry with the youth one of our staff members got a word about weeping for a girl named Rachel. Unfortunately there was no Rachel on either team. Lead to talk to a specific girl, they obediently went to speak with her and asked her if maybe her middle name was Rachel. No it wasn´t. The staff member prayed for her and walked away. Later on that evening the student came back and said I know why God wanted you to give a message to Rachel. The previous summer she had gone on another mission trip that left her daily weeping for the poor. She was just wrecked understanding the poverty and the needs that are in the world. The word that God wanted to give was no more shall Rachel weep for her children, Jeremiah 31:15. God wanted to tell her that he saw the poor and was there with them. Both student and staff have been going to the Batey this week being God´s hands to the poor fulfilling in part what God wanted to call her to. |
