"Believers who have the gospel keep mumbling it over and over to themselves. Meanwhile, millions who have never heard it once fall into the flames of eternal hell without ever hearing the salvation story." - K.P. Yohannan

Haiti Relif: on the way from the DR!

Jan 19 2010:
After Spanish class this morning we were able to go to the store and  purchase supplies for Haiti about 4500 lbs of stuff and then to the cargo area of the airport to help check in and then send out to load onto three different flights.  One leaving this evening and two in the morning.  It is neat to be able to see Glenn and Rhoda Martin (YWAM Santiago) really step and work in this crisis situation.

It is also very neat to see so many different ministries come together and really work as the body that God has called us to be.  What a learning experience for us.  Ned was commented tonight how we are getting to meet and work alongside so many different [ministries] that we would not have been able to visit without this [bringing] together all of them.  God is good.  We prayed over the beans, rice, water, etc.. that those who receive it will come to know Christ in a more real way.

Weeks later...

Hi everybody!

We are now pretty much 2/3 into the lecture phase and things are starting to fall into place. We have had a bunch of different teachers ever since I wrote last time: Al McBryan, Mike Berg, Steve Sizemore to mention a few. This week we have fund-raising on our schedule, and next week is off due to the yearly staff retreat. Pictures will be posted soon. So long!

First week of teaching

We have already finished the first week of teaching. We have been watching Winkie Pratney, talking about how to be loyal, and also Floyd McClung´s Passion videos. Here is some of the feedback we got from the students.

"We examined what passions drive us and how to go about it, changing our passions into the passions of God’s heart. Basically, we can choose what we live for, and we are called to live for Christ - to worship Him in all we say and do, to live lives of obedience to Him, to pick up our crosses and follow Him. I was amazed by the passion displayed in the lives of Jesus and Paul, and I hope that when my life is over, that I can say the words of Paul - that I have “run with perseverance the race marked out for me” - with my passion being Christ."

                                                                                                                                            - Kylie

"This week we looked at the importance of loyalty and passion. I personally learned about how an independent spirit can cause many problems, and even cause the church to split. Winkie said it best; “An independent spirit is like an amputated limb.” Just like the human body, the church needs every person or part to work in unity, at least to be able to function properly. I also learned about the importance of knowing your passions. For your passions determine our behavior, believes, our dreams and visions for our lives. It is very important to have our passions line up with God’s if we want to make an impact in the world and to evangelize the nations."

                                                                                                                                        - Sarah

"The teaching this week was very good, it made me think a lot about myself and what I am doing. It took me deeper than I have ever gone before. It was a great week."

                                                                                                                                         - Ned

"Mostly, this week was a needed and welcomed reminder of what is meant by “Sold out to Jesus”, “Giving your whole heart to God”. “Putting God 1st”. It was a well presented series defining the acceptable level of passion for your Savior, for His plans and purposes, and the lost. It inspired and motivated in the areas shown lacking."

                                                                                                                                            - Jay

"One of our focuses for this week was to consider our passions, their origin and whether they were in alignment with the world of God. This was an important experience. Even more for me was the challenge to ask God to give me the desire to embrace all that God is passionate about, such as qualities like humility."

                                                                                                                                         - Stephanie

"Are you loyal to your passion? Do your passions line up with the passion of God?
The Bible in its entirely about God’s passion. God’s glory is his passion and seeing that glory fulfilled on this earth. He was so passionate about it that He sent Jesus to redeem and restore us as His people so that we could take His glory to all of the nations. Are you willing to make a great sacrifice for your passions even in the face of trials? Do you know God’s heart enough that your passions align themselves with His? We must ask ourselves these questions to fully serve God in the way He intended for us."
